The Role
CBCity is seeking a dedicated Fleet and Driver Safety Officer to support the delivery of safe and compliant fleet operations.
Working within the Fleet Business Unit, this role plays a key part in ensuring adherence to HVNL and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements, while leading fleet and driver safety initiatives, compliance audits, and staff education across Council worksites.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Lead Council activities to ensure compliance with the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL)and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) provisions, including the CoR Management Plan
- Assist and report on key business projects and programs
- Develop and implement audit and reporting processes for fleet and driver compliance, ensuring the Council meets all reasonable fleet and driver safety measures.
- Support and educate various organisational areas on CoR functions to ensure compliance with legislation and Council’s CoRMP- related policies and procedures
- Assist in developing policies, systems and processes to achieve and maintain compliance with CoR legislative requirements.
- Coordinate driver induction and training programs to ensure the continual enhancement of a safety driving culture.
- Collect and analyse vehicle incidents, non-conformance, and other data to develop initiatives that reduce risks to council staff, drivers and the community.
- Coordinate investigations for all vehicle incidents and recommend necessary remedial actions
- Coordinate risk assessments for the Council’s fleet of vehicles, plan, and mechanical equipment.
- Undertake administrative duties aligned with this position.

You will have
- Qualifications in WHS, Road Safety or equivalent experience.
- Experience in implementing safety management processes and procedures
- High level knowledge of WHS legislative framework, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) framework, current trends and industry best practice.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation to meet business requirements
- Proficient in auditing, reporting, and regulatory compliance for fleet operations.
- Experience in fleet transport regulatory compliance or best practice quality control and reporting roles
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $101,423 (Grade H, Step 1) + 11.5% super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
