The role

CBCity is seeking a passionate and experienced Team Leader – Swim School to oversee the delivery of safe, inclusive and engaging swim programs across our aquatic centres at Birrong, Canterbury, Revesby and Roselands.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for the day to day management of Swim School operations, ensuring services are delivered in line with legislation, policy and industry best practice. You will lead, train, and support a team of instructors while fostering a positive team culture built on collaboration, initiative, and a commitment to customer wellbeing.

 

As Team Leader – Swim School, you’ll work closely with the Operations team to ensure a safe, high-quality, and financially sustainable program that reflects Council’s values and commitment to continuous improvement.

 

This position is offered on a Temporary Full-Time basis until mid-February 2026.

 

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Support the Coordinator in promoting the Swim School brand and achieving targets across programs and services.
  • Assist in reviewing and improving Swim School programs to support continuous improvement and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Swim School staff, including Site Supervisors, Duty Managers, and Instructors.
  • Oversee staff scheduling, resource allocation, and performance monitoring to ensure efficient and safe program delivery.
  • Ensure consistent program administration, including accurate records, procedures, and customer communications.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Safe Work Procedures, risk assessments, and staff training.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service by managing enquiries, feedback, and complaints in line with service standards.
  • Support staff development and team performance through training, coaching, and ongoing feedback using the GDI framework.

You will have

  • Recognised Teacher of Water Safety qualification (Austswim, ASCTA or RLSSA), with current CPR, Senior First Aid, and Working with Children Check.
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Proven experience managing and delivering large-scale Swim School programs.
  • Availability to work flexible hours across a 7-day roster, based on program needs.
  • Strong leadership, staff supervision, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management, organisation, and administrative abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting KPIs aligned with business plans and budgets.
  • Ability to adapt to change and identify opportunities within aquatic education programs.

 

Desirable but not essential: Pool Lifeguard Certificate, Cert IV in Training and Assessment, or Assessor/Extension Instructor certification from Austswim, ASCTA or Royal Life Saving.

 

 

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $90,858 (Grade G, Step 1) + Super + Car Allowance. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
