The role

We’re looking for a Manager Leisure & Aquatic Services to take charge of our multi-venue operations, ensuring outstanding customer experiences, financial success, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Director Community Services, you’ll lead a passionate team to deliver high-quality, equitable programs that enhance the wellbeing of the Canterbury-Bankstown community.
Your role will be pivotal in shaping the future of leisure and aquatic services by implementing strategic and operational plans that deliver efficient, safe, and engaging experiences for our community; today and into the future.
Lead a high-performing team, drive innovation across multiple venues, and oversee the launch of a state of the art $84 million facility in mid-2026, along with major redevelopment projects aligned with the Leisure & Aquatic Strategy.

Some of your duties would involve but not be limited to:
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of 200+ to deliver high quality services.
- Developing, executing, and tracking progress on strategic and operational plans.
- Ensure team and individual work plans align with Council’s goals.
- Preparing and delivering business papers and briefings.
- Provide expert guidance and leadership on Leisure, Aquatic, and Golf facility operations, ensuring compliance with policies, legislation, and industry best practices.
- Oversee and optimise the unit’s budget to meet financial targets.
- Drive key projects and initiatives, including facility redevelopment.
- Enhance workplace safety in a high risk environment.
- Engage with stakeholders to stay ahead of industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Develop, oversee, and manage contracts and tenders in line with policies and regulations.

You will have
- Proven expertise in leading, developing, and coaching both leaders and team members in dynamic, high-risk environments.
- Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in Workplace Health & Safety, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Valid Class C driver's licence.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Strong background in managing large, multi-site, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
- Experience driving change within service and operational environments.
- Ability to identify and stay ahead of industry trends.
- Extensive experience in strategic and business planning, including resource management and cost monitoring.
- Proven ability to develop and manage large, complex budgets.
- In-depth understanding of managing multiple Leisure and Aquatic facilities, services, and programs.
- Strong expertise in risk management within the Leisure & Aquatic Services industry (or similar), ensuring compliance with industry guidelines and legislation.
- Committed to continuous improvement and fostering a high-quality customer experience culture.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $138,771 + 11.5% super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
