The Role

CBCity is looking for a proactive and passionate Duty Manager to join our team at the Birrong Aquatic facility. 

 

In this permanent full-time role, you'll work across a seven-day rotating roster, leading a dynamic team to deliver safe, high-quality experiences for all visitors. You'll play a key role in the day-to-day operations, ensuring our services align with Council’s values, safety standards, and industry best practices.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead and support the Aquatics team to deliver a high-quality customer experience in clean, safe and well-maintained centres.
  • Ensure lifeguards follow supervision plans and enforce safety rules and facility policies.
  • Adhere to and uphold all operational, safety and emergency procedures and manuals.
  • Supervise, train and support pool staff in line with policies, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Manage and monitor pool equipment, chemicals and water quality to meet health guidelines.
  • Confidently respond to emergencies, including performing rescues and first aid when required.
  • Foster positive communication with staff, users, hirers and contractors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of services and assist with administrative and record-keeping tasks.

You will have

  • Relevant qualifications in Pool Operations and Lifeguarding, including Senior First Aid and WWCC.
  • Experience in operating aquatic/leisure facilities, with strong knowledge of pool equipment, water quality and chemical safety.
  • Proven customer service skills and the ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills with the ability to follow and deliver procedures.
  • Ability to identify and manage safety risks and meet physical swim competency requirements.
  • Willingness to work across a 7-day rotating roster and obtain facility-specific lifeguard licences.

 

Desirable but not essential are qualifications in Aquatics Management or related fields such as Business or WHS, along with experience in crowd management, asset maintenance, computer literacy, and working with diverse communities.

 

Duty Managers at CB City must annually demonstrate their fitness for duty and complete a swim test twice a year (swimming 200 meters continuously in under six minutes) as per the SV11 Pool Lifeguard Health Assessments in the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations.

 

 

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $75,011 (Grade E, Step 1) + Super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
