The role
We have an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and organised Governance Officer to join our Corporate Governance team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting Council’s access to information functions, Council and Committee meetings, and other statutory governance responsibilities. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of governance-related activities across Council.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Manage and determine access to information requests under the Government Information (Public Access) Act.
- Prepare reports for Council and the Executive Leadership Team as requested.
- Administer subpoenas and maintain registers such as Gifts and Benefits, and Meeting Disclosures and Interactions.
- Attend Council meetings to record minutes and monitor equipment.
- Provide governance-related administrative support to the Coordinator and Manager Governance.
- Contribute to strategic governance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Undertake other duties as directed.

You will have
- Business Administration Certificate or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in governance, information access, or a related discipline.
- Sound knowledge of the GIPA Act, Local Government Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and document management systems (e.g., InfoCouncil, iShare).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Experience in minute-taking and preparing Council business papers is highly desirable.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $82,701 (Grade F, Step 1) plus 12% super.
