The role

We're seeking a skilled and proactive ICT Systems Engineer to take the lead in designing, implementing and maintaining advanced IT systems, including servers, network infrastructure, storage solutions and cloud technologies. 

 

This critical role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security and optimal performance of our entire IT environment, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service and satisfaction.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

•    Monitor, analyse and manage IT infrastructure and services to ensure optimal performance.
•    Maintain system availability in line with SLAs, providing root cause analysis, incident resolution, and mitigation.
•    Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
•    Conduct regular audits, recommending improvements to system performance and security.
•    Collaborate with teams to integrate new technologies and ensure system compatibility.
•    Manage and update software applications to ensure functionality and compliance.
•    Provide expert 3rd level support for systems and networks as an escalation point.
•    Document infrastructure configurations, processes and operational procedures.
•    Contribute to system design and architecture to enhance current and future solutions.
•    Lead special projects, ensuring seamless transitions from development to production.
•    Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and industry best practices.
•    Perform additional duties as aligned with skills and training.

You will have
•    Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or Computer Science.
•    Microsoft certification or equivalent technical experience.
•    Valid driver’s licence.
•    Strong expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT systems (LAN, WAN, VPN, Exchange, firewalls).
•    In-depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, Entra ID Network Services, and M365.
•    Proficient in virtualisation platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
•    Experience with Citrix administration and configuration.
•    Skilled in scripting with PowerShell.
•    Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
•    Background in customer-facing ICT operations and service improvement initiatives.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving and multitasking abilities under tight deadlines.
•    Well-developed collaboration and negotiation skills with a focus on delivering high-quality customer service.

 

An ITIL or Project Management certification, or equivalent experience, is preferred but not mandatory. Experience in the Public Sector is advantageous, though not a requirement.


The salary range for this opportunity starts at $111,988 (Grade I, Step 1) + 11.5% super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
