The role
CBCity is looking for a skilled HR Business Partner to join our team in a dynamic, generalist role that combines both strategic and operational HR responsibilities.
You’ll work closely with leaders and teams across Canterbury Bankstown Council, providing expert guidance in all areas of Human Resource Management and Industrial/Employment Relations.
Through strong partnerships and a solutions-focused approach, you’ll help drive positive outcomes and deliver innovative HR support that meets the evolving needs of the organisation.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Provide accurate, consistent advice on HR issues, awards, and legislation to HR and senior leaders.
- Coach and support leaders on HRM and IR/ER responsibilities, policies, and procedures.
- Lead and manage dispute resolution, grievances, disciplinary matters, and industrial issues.
- Advise on reward and benefits, workforce planning, performance, and employee relations.
- Negotiate and influence decisions on salary expectations and employment outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and review HR policies and procedures in line with best practice.
- Build strong, credible relationships and promote open communication across the organisation.
- Support and promote the organisation’s vision, values, and strategic direction.
- Contribute to the HR Business Plan and manage assigned HR projects.
- Maintain HR systems and databases, providing reporting and insights on workforce trends.
- Collaborate with other HRBPs to ensure consistent practices and provide mutual support.
- Champion diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity in the workplace.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract and recruit top talent.
- Facilitate value-adding workshops as required
- Build industry networks to stay current and enhance personal effectiveness.

You will have
- Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Employment Relations
- Strong generalist HR experience within an award-based environment.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply relevant Awards and employment legislation in HRM and IR/ER contexts.
- Experience leading the resolution of complex matters such as disputes, grievances, disciplinary actions, and industrial issues.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work proactively.
Desirable, but not essential, qualifications include Certificate IV Training and Assessment and Accreditation - SHL Psychometric Testing.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $104,465 (Grade H, Step 1) + Super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
