The Role
In this newly created leadership position we are looking for a strategic and results-oriented leader to join our Senior Management team, reporting directly to the Director City Assets.
In this critical role, you will lead and inspire the planning, design, and delivery of major infrastructure projects that shape the future of our city. You’ll manage a diverse capital works portfolio, driving innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainable outcomes that align with Council’s long-term strategic objectives.
Your expert guidance will need to support innovative infrastructure development across multiple disciplines, ensuring not only that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards of quality and community benefit, but that the delivery approach and support structure continues to evolve to be best practice.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

Lead design and delivery of infrastructure projects within the Capital Works Program.

Manage stakeholder engagement, balancing needs, regulations, and budgets.

Oversee project performance, budgets, and ensure timely, safe, and quality delivery.

Lead, inspire and develop a collaborative, high-performing team.
-
Dealing with political acumen and lead through political issues in the community.

Support continuous improvement and sustainable resourcing.

Represent Council and the Director of City Assets in stakeholder engagements.

Drive strategic decision-making and negotiations for optimal outcomes.

You will have
-
Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field with extensive experience in managing large-scale infrastructure programs.

Valid driver’s licence.

Proven success leading and inspiring high-performing teams and managing multidisciplinary projects.

Strong skills in budgeting, financial oversight, scheduling, and contract management.

Track record of driving change, improving efficiency, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Excellent problem-solving, strategic thinking, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
A postgraduate qualification in Management and a working knowledge of local government operations under the Local Government Act are desirable but not essential.
Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
