The Role
CBCity is looking for a skilled Digital Communications and Media Officer to join our Communications Unit. In this role, you’ll bring content to life, sparking interest and connecting with our community by sharing stories about the valuable services, initiatives and projects we deliver.
You’ll lead the planning, creation and distribution of targeted content across Council’s social media channels and websites to maximise engagement.
Working closely with internal teams, you’ll identify opportunities, track performance, and report on key metrics to ensure alignment with strategic goals and best practices.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Plan, create and publish engaging content across Council’s social media channels and websites, ensuring alignment with target audiences and strategic objectives.
- Manage and monitor Council’s social media presence, including non-Council platforms and respond to enquiries and emerging issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Analyse content performance, track key metrics and report insights to inform future campaigns and improve engagement.
- Contribute to the development of digital and print materials such as newsletters, flyers, website content and video assets for social media.
- Assist with preparing media materials, Mayoral correspondence, interview coordination, and support for Mayoral events and outreach activities.
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Team Leader Digital and Media or Manager Communications.

You will have
- Tertiary qualification in communications, media, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive experience managing social and digital media platforms.
- Proven ability to create targeted, engaging content across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Skilled in producing video content for diverse channels and formats.
- Strong knowledge of social and web analytics tools to guide content strategy and decision-making.
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, adapting to shifting priorities and time pressures.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive a vintage Kombi.
Desirable (but not essential) skills include media experience, the ability to simplify complex or political issues for varied audiences, website experience and graphic design capabilities such as typography and image editing.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $90,858 (Grade G, Step 1) + Super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
